Southern Poker Championship: The first WPT of the year

The Casino Beau Rivage located in Biloxi, in the State of the Mississippi receives at this moment the first event of the World Poker Tour of 2010. The hostilities of the Main Event of $ 10,000 of buy-in began this Sunday. The World Poker Tour became one accustomed of Biloxi because it is the third time which it made stopover there. Called in the past Gulf Coast Championship Poker, the tournament was renamed Southern Poker Championship since 2009. They were 208 players who have been registered during the principal event, we can remark a decrease of 25% compared to the previous year. This reduction of the participants can be allotted to the calendar of large scale competitions if we quote only the European Poker Tour of Deauville or the Aussie Millions.

But in spite of these tournaments of prestige which take place at this moment in the four corners of the planet, stars of poker came in mass. In the hall of the hotel, we could see stars like Gavin Smith, Johnattan Little, Eric Baldwin, Paul Wasicka, Suriner Sunar or Daniel Negreanu. After 2 days of battle, it did not remain any more that 27 players and Jared Jaffee took the first place of the competition with his 546,000 tokens accumulated during two days. Only 18 players will be in the money at the end of this test, the remainder will go back with empty hands. Among the players who are still in the course for the crown we notice the presence of Tommy Vedes, James Mackey, Joanne “J.J” Liu and Leibert.
