Profit in tournament: Phil Ivey take the first place of the podium

At the half of 2009, the “Tiger Woods of the poker” had a little less than $100,000 to fill to win the first place of the classification of profits in tournament and to pass Jamie Gold who had in his possession $12,190,400 of balance in tournament. A seventh place during the last Main Event of the World Series of Poker would have been enough for Ivey to take the throne of Jamie Gold. But it was not the reality, because he was eliminated prematurely. But it is finally the Canadian Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu who becomes the richest man in tournament after his exploit during the finale of the Main Event of the World Series Poker Europe, after a bad start in the finale table, with a position of short stack; he eliminates 6 players, and reach the final table.

During the last Aussie Millions, Ivey had also done the trip to Australia and with many ambitions. Even if he had finished the Australian tournament only as runner-up, he has just confirmed that the title of the better player of poker of the world was not allotted to him by chance. He belonged to the 24 players who were registered in the High Roller of AUD$ 100,500 of buy-in which generated a prizepool of AUD$2,400,000. We could guess the level of this event because of the presence of big players like Erik Lindgren, Tony G, Gus Hansen, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Barry Greenstein, Tony Bloom, David Steicke, Howard Lederer, Jonathan Karamalikis victorious of the event 5. Ivey fails at the final head's up face to Daniel Shah, but he gains for the second places AUD$600,000 and dethrone at the occasion “Kid Poker”.
