Antoine Saout: One of the best performers of the year 2009

The end of this year is so soon, and it is time to make the assessment on the classification of the 5 best world performers in poker for the year 2009. This classification does not considerate only the large profits but considers also the victories and the exploits in a major tournament. This classification is closely related to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) where we can find more than 60 tournaments, prestigious bracelets and the Main event which interest the media of the whole world. For the European Poker Tour (EPT), where any player hadn’t won twice time the title, the World Series of Poker is thus considered as the barometer of performance of poker in 2009.

The first place goes to Phil Ivey with his 2 WSOP bracelets, his 7th place in the Main Event of the WSOP 2009 and one final table at the $5,000 No Limit Hold' em. He made a WSOP without fault. Jeffrey Lisandro is in the second position, although not having gained a tiny profit of 830,000 dollars, thanks to his three bracelets he occupied the second place. In the third place we find an unknown player: Vitaly Lunkin which was the winner of the Russian Poker Tour with $436,000 of prize then winner of the $40,000 of the WSOP with $1,800,000 of profit. The French Antoine Saout occupied the fourth position, he is the revelation of the year 2009 even if he finished only at the 3rd place of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. At the end of the classification, we find the Canadian Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu. Even without any major victory, he won $1,223,895 thanks to a very good regularity in the major tournaments.
