Online poker in the USA: New seizures in prospect
Considered until there in a stage of rumours, the office of the prosecutor of the Southern district of New York comes to confirm the rumour concerning of the investigations around an operator in charge of financial transactions between websites of online poker and particular. The investigation is quite advanced and the seizures could take place in the next days. Few months earlier, this same department allowed the seizure of a total 40 million dollars, belonging to American players. These funds were identified as coming from rooms of poker which greet American players. The seizure was carried out according to the law 18 of 1955 which describes as a federal crime the practice of any form of gambling when this one is prohibited in the State concerned.
But the most astonishing in the history is when the American Justice declared that this seizure did not have any relationship with UIGEA law, but of the Wire Act, a law considered as fallen in disuse governing the sports betting by telephone. Websites of online poker use various subterfuges to pay the players who are in the American territory. Of course, sites of poker did not act alone to collect the invisible funds from players, these methods had let sites of poker to work in tranquillity in the country. A new seizure of funds could have a dissuasive impact on the American players as for the rooms of online poker which always operate on the American territory.
