Poker: Of this play, I like the convivial side, according to Papin
The emission Stars of Poker on Canal+ is one of the first occasions of appearance in public of Jean Pierre Papin while playing poker. Indeed, this former player of the French national football team and the Olympique de Marseille is also an impassioned of poker as several other players who were present in this emission (Gaël Monfils, David Ginola, Tatiana Golvin,…) and even if he practises this game only for some time, it is the convivial side of poker that he prefers. “I like the convivial side of parts between friends. I am not insane of poker, like certain young people of today, but I play regularly, every month”, affirmed Papin by evoking his passion. It is the play between friends whom he loves and it was the discovery of poker on TV which gave him taste to this play. “I was rather tarot or belotte beforehand. I played poker closed but without really in becoming impassioned. I was especially taken by the phenomenon of mode”, continues him by evoking the fact that it was by looking at the poker program of Canal + with Patrick Bruel who made him fall under the charm.
Having compared this play with football, JPP thus evokes the various performances which a player must lay out to be among the best for it. “I would say that it is a card deck like all the others. But high level poker requires endurance, clearness and intelligence. To play 4-5 days during 10 hours requires a large performance”, asserts him. At poker, he affirms also that he plays tight style rather and he is not very offensive. And for this former footballer, poker will remain a simple passion.
