WPT Foxwoods: A second WPT crowning for Cimpan

If spots were pointed at Las Vegas for the Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2009 which had crowned the best player of poker in the world for the year 2009, it does not mean that there had been any other important competitions which took place at the same time as the WSOP on the planet. The one of them was the World Poker Tour of Foxwoods. Like the finale of the last year, they were six professional poker players who compete during the finale. Stars as Eric Froehlich with his 2 bracelets of the World Series of poker, Lee Markholt, Matt Stout and his $1.5 millions of gains acquired during all tournaments he did and Cornel Andrew Cimpan were present around this final table.

After 187 hands, Cornel Andrew Cimpan eliminated all his opponents and won the title. Cimpan who already gained the World Poker Tour L.A poker Classic, last February, adds to his prize list a second title of the WPT and succeeds to Jonathan Little, Foxwoods 2008 champion. For the year 2009, a significant decline of the number of participants during the event was noticed. If the field was made up of 412 players the previous year, this number decreased into 353 during this edition. The $10, 000 buy-in generate anyway a generous prizepool of $3,321,377 among which $910,058 went directly to the winner. During final Heads-Up, it was the professional player Soheil Shamsedinn who makes Cornel Andrew Cimpan winning. Cimpan is actually at the 7th position of the temporary classification 'Player of the Year 2009'.
