French law about online games: Impacts will be felt on poker

The new French law about online games, which had just been adopted by the National Assembly, is going to have considerable incidences on the way of playing of French people. Its impacts are going to reverberate on all of online games sector and on poker in particular. Various articles of this law indeed require major changes. One of the first conditions of this text is the obligation of operators of online game in France to detain a regular license. The AJREL or Authority of Regulation of Online games is the new authority having the task to distribute these licenses.

Everybody knows that for a long time, operators make offers of online game which touch the illegality. But the article 16 of this law requires henceforth from its coming that the accounts of these sites must be closed. In all this, player will see his experiences volatilizing and will have to resume everything since the point of departure. In poker, the article 9 amendment 44 also stipulates that: “Only are authorized sets of circle between players playing via operators' sites holders of the approval”. What could mean that French poker players should play only against French players; they cannot face any more players of poker registered on unlawful sites. What is going to bring a decline of the numbers of players on legal operators. The new law also means a more expensive poker, because online poker will be imposed by 2 % by stake.
