French online games: The media want also their part

In this crisis time, the sector of online games is among those which go best while the media undergo the same fate as the traditional companies. In order to benefit this windfall from this activity growth of online games, the media hustle in this business. According to specialists, the flourishing market of online games will border the €3.5 billions in 5 years. Several French business leaders such as Bernard Arnault, Vincent Bolloré, Arnaud Lagardere or Martin Bouygues felt good fortune and invested this new profitable sector. With the example of Bernard Arnault, owner of the famous daily economic newspaper “Les Echos” which currently holds 10% of the actions of a site of games or that of Stephan Courbit who possesses several sites of online games.

Contrary, the main operators who are already well established in the sector of games and online casino request partnerships with groups of media. These new alliances gave rise to different “Poker Turn” bearing the name of the media partner. Thus, we can see “Parisien Poker Tour” or “Entrevue Poker Tour”. Canal+ is also in the race through its emissions and partnerships in matches of poker, this TV station which is also the single holder of the rights of French Foot broadcast. The fight will be hard because if the bill obtains the Parliament acceptance, about fifty licences will be distributed to operators of online games. Let us remind that the representatives studied since Wednesday the bill concerning the online games.
