English Poker Open: David La Ronde wins the first edition

To the general surprise, it is the British David La Ronde who wins the first English Open Poker which took place in the North of the English capital. The Swedish Michael Tureniec who was the big favourite finished at the second position; him who was nevertheless chipleader at the beginning of the final table with 450,000 chips. Throughout the final table, La Ronde knew how to fluctuate his experiences by beginning with 243,000 chips. On the final hand, both players made an all-in, the Swede had a KT whereas La Ronde possessed A7. The board turns out of no utility for both players. By relegating Michael Tureniec at the second position, David La Ronde collected the sum of £208,367 which is the most important gain of his career.



In spite of this unfortunate second position, Tureniec confirms that he is the fit player of moment. These last 12 months, he also won the second position of the European Poker Tour of London (EPT), he won a side event of the Master's degrees Classic in Amsterdam and he is also the chipleader for the finale of the Partouche Poker Tour which will take place in November. 213 players took the departure of this first edition of the English Open Poker. Big names of poker as Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Annette Obrestad, Chad Brown, Joe Beevers, Liv Boeree, James Akenhead and Marc Goodwin were present at this premiere which was a big success. The best French performance in this event of London was the ranking of Léonard Aka (also known as Tiwas) who finished with a honourable 4th position and collected at the same time the sum of £51,290.
