WSOP 2010: The $40,000 tournament will be stopped

While everybody is still speculating on the name of the winner of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2009, the WSOP 2010 programs already circulate on poker scene. According to the declarations of the Communication Director of the World Series of poker, Seth Palansky, the at $40,000 tournament anniversary as well as the Champions Invitational won’t probably be programmed anymore at the list of the meeting next year in spite of the success of the tournament. It seems that World Series of Poker organizers are anxious and want only to keep it as an exceptional tournament. They are afraid that the Main Event would be under cover of the $40,000 tournament and could then lose its prestigious side.

Champions Invitational, which gathers world champions since the first edition of the WSOP until today, would also undergo the same destiny. On the other hand, the 2010 edition will offer more tournaments with a buy-in near $1,000, because the persons in charge of the WSOP want to preserve their series of tournaments as accessible and popular. The $ 1,000 meeting which enticed more than 6,000 players this summer will also make its big come back; this one will be accompanied by 5 other low buy-in tournaments. The addition of an extra room to receive more players during the tournaments was also announced, the room Palooza is already whispered. Organizers talk about a possible automatic distribution of players for the tournaments in strong influence, and it, to avoid the blockings during the Main Event like in 2008.
