Law concerning online games: Millions of dollars invested in lobbying

Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), aims in theory to prevent American citizens to go on online game websites, but the reality is quite other. Indeed, it is practically impossible to control websites which propose gambling games. Moreover, Americans continue to devote to their passion via web portals of online games based in other countries and websites which offer solutions of electronic purse. To oppose this law, the association of poker players and Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative united their strengths to put pressure on the Congress for several months. Online game sites also inject millions of dollars in operations of lobbying since a few times.

According to "The Telegraph", a company which manages electronic payments of online gambling games sites has already spent more than 5.23 millions dollars in these lobbying operations and this one does not plan to stop there. Poker rooms also appealed to the services of very influential organisms of lobbying to defend their interests with the Congress. Since its creation in 2006, the UIGEA was always deeply criticized by players, some members of the Congress, sites of online game and defenders of the freedom because of the numerous faults which this one involves. This law which is supposed to protect players does exactly the opposite: players who are henceforth going to play in the illegality do not benefit any protection and in case of dispute with sites of online game, any pursuit or appeal is possible.
