France Poker Tour: Interpellation of organizers by the Police of games

France Poker Tour which took place in the Carrousel du Louvre on Sunday was the theatre of a little common scene. Indeed, the tournament was suddenly interrupted by the arrival of people of the police of games. The reason of this descent is that the company co-organizer of France Poker Tour still has no French license of game operation. This one is thus still in the illegality according to French law although to the company has an English license. The police of games seized trophies on which was marked the company name organizer of the tournament. This company is an online poker room co-founded by Patrick Bruel, Marc Simoncini (chairman and managing director of Meetic), Alexandre Roos and Christophe Schaming (founders of Caramail). These four men will have to wait again until 2010 for an application of the French license but this sprain could become a bad point for their candidature.

Note that France prohibits any tournament of poker live on its territory, only the tournaments in gambling clubs such as the Aviation Club of France or in terrestrial casinos can take place there. It's the same for the online poker rooms. In waiting for the new French law on online games, the State closes for the moment eyes on these online poker sites among which most of them take advantage of a European license of game. Any forms of publicity for these sites are also prohibited. The Barrière de Deauville casino knows something about it; the police came down in one of its firm during the stage of European Poker Tour on 2008. Chips and tables having a colour of an online site caused the cancellation of the stage.
