Online games in the USA: A new hope of legalization

As we all know, the American law prohibits online games activities as poker or black jack at the federal level and the simple fact of playing poker or all other games is very badly seen in a too puritanical society that is America. But the economic crisis which had a very bad effect in the country is the reason of the progression of online games industry in general and poker in particular. This prohibition makes lose every year in the American state around tens billions of dollars and the legalization of online games could be a blessing for the economy of this country. At present, fervent defenders of these games base their ultimate hopes on the second government bill. Indeed, the democratic senator of New Jersey, Robert Menendez has just introduced on August the 6th a new text at the Congress.

This text is going to distinguish poker as a game of skill and it will not be anymore considered as a simple gambling game. Menendez uses as argument the fact of removing poker from the underground is going to help economy and to protect American hearths. He also underlines that this legalization of a game of skill is going to create new activities and to generate billions of dollars of taxes. The "Poker Player Alliance", a kind of syndicate of American players is favourable for this bill, with which all websites of online poker will be obliged to have a license to be able to operate on the American ground. If this law is voted, each federal State will be free to apply it or not on its territory. Then, sites of online poker will operate in the illegality if they accept players coming from a State which forbids gambling games.
