Barcelona European Masters of Poker: Anton Wigg as winner

One of the tournaments dedicated to amateur players, Barcelona European Masters of Poker (EMOP) had just known its new champion. During the Catalonian step of this event organized by the Swedish firm Entraction Network, a tournament held at the Gran Casino of Barcelona, a large participation of Scandinavian players were observed. So, it was not a surprise if a Swedish, Anton Wigg wins this 4th stage of the European Masters of Poker. Five of the six last finalists at this event have the same nationality as Wigg except the Polish Maciej Swicarz. So, it was easy for Scandinavian players to win this 1,100€ buy-in poker tournament. Even if it was an amateur’s meeting, Wigg went home with a marvelous sum of 95,760€ and the champion title.



Until there, the best classification won by Wigg were a 4th position during his participation at a Side-event of the Swedish Open Poker Championships in 2007. In Barcelona, this EMOP champion face the Polish Maciej Swicarz at the final head’s up. Getting the 2nd rank, Swicarz received also the title of the best player in the general classification of the 4 sets during this tournament and bring home 73,655 Euros of gain. Kristian Eriksson at the 3rd place (65,565€), Manfred Kåvestam at the 4th rank (23,142€) and Morgen Karlsson (18,354€) at the 5th place were the players who follow them during this final. After Barcelona step, the European Masters of Poker will go to Malta and will held its next tournament at Casino di Venezia de Vittoriosa for the 23rd to the 26th of September 2009.
