Online games: Illegal websites can be censured
Even by arranging the necessary experience, surrounded with competent persons, websites of online games risk to meet real difficulties in front of the determination of the French administration. France wants at all costs to control the opening of its market of online games and online bets as well as poker. Apart from its right to control and to attribute operating licenses to selected websites of online games, the Authority of regulation of online games or ARJEL was also endowed with the power to require a filtering of access to illegal online games sites. So, this authority has the full skills to ask to technical intermediaries as Internet providers to block the access to these sites in case of not adequate license. Let us note that before the amendment made by the commission of finances of the French National Assembly; this right was given to judicial authority.
"Internet provider, ordered by the ARJEL, would not cut the access to Internet of a player, but only the access to illegal websites according to the French law and regulations ", the reporter of the commission at the National Assembly, Jean-François Lamour declares. The censorship can be made by blocking DNS address, blocking IP address, URL by proxy and hybrid filtering. If a site of online games is not regularized, what is sure is that it won’t get anything from the French consumers because it will be "banished". Once in the blacklist, it is not possible anymore for players to connect in this site whether it is to play poker, bingo or black jack …
