Main Event 2009: $8.5 millions of prize for the winner

In spite of the financial crisis which has shaken the world economy, the world champion of the Worlds Series of Poker (WSOP) of this year, will be entirely sheltered from his needs. The calculation made by organizers after the holding of the first four days of this event unveiled that the winner of this year will earn $8,546,435 of gain. In all, the first 648 players on this competition can win a prize. Indeed, the detailed account of the inscriptions during these first four days of the Main Event refers to the participation of 6,494 poker enthusiasts. Moreover, this calculation shows too that each one among the nine qualified during the final phase of the Main Event can expect to a gain more than a million of dollar.



Compared to Peter’s Eatsgate, the winner of the Main Event edition 2008 of the WSOP who swipe $9,152,416, the champion of this year will be lightly less off. Last year, 6,844 players participated in this tournament, indeed. However, the number of participants of this year 2009 remains more important than those of the year 2007 during which 6,358 persons were enrolled. The current temporary classification let see some players who can have a chance to win this trophy. The chipleader at the beginning of the Day 2 is Troy Weber (USA) with 353,000 chips, Joseph Cada (USA), Tyler Patterson (USA), Mikael Ay (USA), Mads Wissing (USA). On the French side, Jean Docquier (122,755), Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier (120,000) Benjamin Pollak (104,775), David Benyamine are among the first.
