Poker tournament in Swiss: The Court settled about its legality
Casinos’ complaints in Swiss against Texas Hold’em poker tournaments and parties with gambles around the same amusement, taking place outside casinos has just deliberated by the justice. Everything considered, the Helvetica Federal Administrative Tribunal (TAF) decided that poker is a game of skill and capacity in bluff but not a simple game of chance. “Poker is a game of chance and all game of chance, according to law, has to be held in casino”, Marc Friedrich, secretary of Casinos’Federation maintained when he lodges their complaints. Indeed, the group of gaming rooms asserts that because of these tournaments, they lose many players. But the court’s decision was clear, it resumes the judgment passed by the Federal Commission of game firms (CFMJ).
During the year 2008, the CFMJ gave its agreement to the setting up of 189 private tournaments. “ If Hold’em tournaments is prohibited, we can do the same for some jass’ tournaments, where we play with money”, a magistrate retorted. The lower part of hazard at poker is supported by another magistrate too by the fact that it is the same players who meet regularly again at better places at the end of these tournaments, which is not an affair of chance. The year 2008 was marked by a record number of complaints in this domain. Indeed, casinos refer to the justice every time that the Federal Commission of game firms authorises a tournament.
