Online games : NBA 2K to be distributed in Chinese Market

With the rise of online games turnover in China, more than $2.75 billions during 2008 or an increase of 61% compared to 2007, professionals of this activity fling themselves to this market. 2K Sports, the enterprise which obtains the license for the development of an online game introducing all NBA’s teams is now interested to Chinese players. With the firm Tencent Holdings Limited, the development of this famous NBA basket ball game on PC by into online game, Chinese version is foreseen. “The incredible popularity of basket ball in Asia associated with the passion for online games in this region makes this project very exciting”, Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K asserts. Indeed, the American championship of basket ball becomes a show attracting more and more Chinese TV viewers. During the 2008season, more than one billion persons watched NBA championship in this country.



“All ingredients are there in order to create the best simulation of online sporting game that China has never known”, Hubert Larenaudie, president of the Take-Two Asie, collaborator on Asian market of 2K Sports asserts. This online version of NBA 2K will be available in Taiwan, South Korea and in eastern South Asia. And the upswing of online game in China is not ready to stop there. According to estimation, China will count 120 millions of online gamers by 2013 for a $8.9 billions total market.
