Belgian law about online poker : Game fairness as basis
After Italy and England which were among the first European countries legalizing online poker and Internet casino, and France which prepares its government bill, Belgium thinks of launching into this way. After the first approval by the Belgian Parliament of the fore government bills about online poker on last March the 27th, the final passing of this law is expected. “I praise a mastered controlled opening. We have to operate for a control on hour waste, player’s age but also on terms and conditions of game. It is necessary to provide a sincere game to player for him to play with an equal chance against another human being but not against a programmed machine”, Etienne Marique, president of the Belgian Parliament’s Commission of gambles, asserts. Actually, Belgian State will make sure that game fairness, financial transparency and operators’ solvency would be respected completely.
Belgium could decide a bit different system in the opening of its licence. In this way, the right to hold a site of online poker could be reserved only for enterprises already having a game licence in its territory. “Foreign great poker platforms make us an unfair competition. We are applicant of a law about online game like what is already happening in England”, the director assistant of the Namur casino, Sebastien Leclerq asserts. Until here, Circus Group, Partouche Group (Knokke, Ostende a,d Chaudfontaine), International group Austria (Brussels) and the English group possessing Middelkerke casino are casino operators in this country. A restriction of the access to other sites of gambles with a sorting carrying out concerning Internet access suppliers can be done.
