Summer vacation: Ski stations invest in casinos
Ski stations wouldn’t want to be a destination only operational during winter. To fulfil the emptiness making them unemployed all the year long, these touristic site already equipped with hotels and accommodation firms able to receive a lot of people, attracting holidaymakers only on December when the snow falls, decided to opt for new strategies. In Québec, the summer season becomes also a period when these stations decided to take advantage of by investing for new infrastructures. After aquatic parks, trekking, mountain cycle etcetera which are not enough for retaining holidaymakers a long time, attracting these people who need to relax to play in casino is one of the last strategies adopted by these sites.
The ski station of Tremblant, Québec with its village and holiday resort of Laurentides with a golf course, cycle paths, animated pedestrian village and which increased number of festival during these last years, has just announced the opening of a new casino of Loto-Québec. “The Casino de Mont-Tremblant will have the biggest section of higher stakes among all casinos in Québec, in order to respond to the international customers’ needs”, Marie-Claude Rivest, the Loto-Québec’ spokesman asserts. The dimension of this playing room is immense : 400 slot machines, 25 tables for games with croupier permitting playing black jack, bingo, baccarat…five Texas Hold’em poker tables. Other stations like Côte-de-Beaupré, Sutton ski station, the Mont Edouard try also to attract these summer tourists in order to increase their turnovers.
