The $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo World Championship of the World Series of Poker 2009 (WSOP) has just known its new master, Daniel Alaei. David Benyamine, winner of the 2008 edition hadn’t kept his title. During the final which take place on last Wednesday the 9th of June, this poker player has just impressed among the 179 players registered at this tournament. But getting this victory and winning a gain of $445,898 for his first position was not easy. It needed 3 days of competition with great players like Annie Duke, Daniel Negreanu and Sam Khouiss before he reached this triumph. However, the final heads-up between Daniel Alei and Scott Clements was brief.

During the Day 3 in which 17 of the best players eliminated after the battleships participated, Clements quickly outruns his opponents. Chipleader of the final table, he had at his disposal 1,500,000 chips, more than 500,000 chips above those of his direct pursuer, John Monnette. Yueqi Zhu was the first to leave the final table, followed by Annie Duke eliminated some hands later and leaving with $58,049 of gain. Tom Koral (7th), Greg Jamison (6th) and John Monnette were the next get rid of this table. In spite of his talent in poker, Daniel Negreanu yields to the chip lead and had to make do with the 4th position. Clements who had the biggest stack hadn’t also resisted to Daniel Alaei. The future champion eliminated his opponent thanks to a simultaneous possession of 3 cards straight flush. After his first bracelet in 2006, Alaei recovers coronation at WSOP by this victory.
