WSOP anniversary tournament : A bracelet and $1.8 millions for Vitaly Lunkin

The $40,000 buy-in tournament marking the World Series of Poker’s anniversary and seeing the participation of 201 players was been achieved by the Russian player, Vitaly Lunkin. His first position at this tournament makes him win his second WSOP golden bracelet and also a marvellous prize of $1.8 millions. During the 2008 edition, Lunkin already won indeed the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em. At the course of this final competition, several hours of game were necessary before public know the champion. The short stack of this party, Ted Forest was the first eliminated. As soon as the 19th deal, Noah Schwartz raise brought him to display his entire stack before being defeated.

Six deals later, Schwartz who eliminated the first player stakes all his pile facing Greg Raymer and followed by Haxton. Raymer eliminates Schwartz and becomes the chip leader by gaining the 5.8 millions chips of the pot. Lunkin contend then with Raymer the place of chip leader during several deals. Lex Veldhuis was the next eliminated during this party and took the 7th position with a $277,940 gain, then followed by Justin Bonomo and Dani Stern. Whereas Greg Raymer leads during the final trio, Isaac Haxton eliminates him with his pair of nine against a pair of five for his opponent. During the final heads-up, even though Lunkin had at his disposal fewer chips, he dominated his adversary by defeating him during the 20 first deals. Even though Haxton resists many times, he was defeated at the end and had to make do with the second position and a $1,118,568 prize. The champion as for him wins $1.8 millions.
