Event#4 of the WSOP : More than 6,000 participants

The most prestigious poker tournament in the world, the World Series of Poker has just overcome another stage of its existence by registering a record participation at one of its Event. With more than 6,000 players which enrolled for the $1,000 buy-in tournament, it is almost a new record of affluence that the event has just signed for this 2009’s edition. In spite of the financial crisis prevailing in the world and the turnover decrease of casinos, the tournament posted up complete long time before its beginning, obliging so organizers to increase the foreseen places of 400 extra seats. Rio poker room and the Seafood restaurant in the hotel were changed for this occasion to receive players unexpected by the 5,600 initial places.

During this $6 millions prize pool tournament, every player will try to tempt his chances at best in order to win the golden bracelet and especially the first prize. But facing the game’s structure suggested by the organizers because of the important number of players, a buy-in offering 3,000 chips, 25/50, of which every level is played during 60 minutes, the most talented players won’t have time to show their best games. During Monday the 1st of June, the Belgian player Davidi Kitai, WSOP champion 2008 and the French player Ludovic Lacay, were already in the list of the first eliminated for this tournament. In this way this WSOP Event#4 has just broken the record of the biggest Donkament of the WSOP history, apart from the Main Event.
