Belgian law about online poker : Game fairness as basis

Online games: China establishes a text in order to protect its players

Legislation about online games : Review of the taxation in Italy

Poker players’ gains : More than $30 millions locked up in USA

WSOP anniversary tournament : A bracelet and $1.8 millions for Vitaly Lunkin
The $40,000 buy-in tournament marking the World Series of Poker’s anniversary and seeing the participation of 201 players was been achieved by the Russian player, Vitaly Lunkin. His first position at this tournament makes him win his second WSOP golden bracelet and also a marvellous prize of $1.8 millions. During the 2008 edition, Lunkin already won indeed the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em. At the course of this final competition, several hours of game were necessary before public know the champion. Event#4 of the WSOP : More than 6,000 participants

WSOP 2009 : Andrew Cohen takes possession of the first bracelet
The first World Series of Poker Event 2009 dedicated to employees of Las Vegas enterprises saw the first bracelet award of this 40th edition of WSOP. A barman of the Palms’ Casino, Andrew Cohen had indeed won the $500 buy-in competition and received so the $83,778 of gain for this tournament. Hall of Fame: Surfers are eligible for voting
After having enrolled among its members in 2008 Dewey Tomko and Henry Orenstein, the famous temple of poker legends, Hall of Fame of the World Series of Poker which foresees to enthrone new members this year, decides to adopt a new formula. From this year, legendary players who can become a member of this pantheon are those who are the most appreciated by public. For the first time, surfers are then accepted to carry out vote for designating players they like and that they want to see the name registered in this temple of poker legends. For this year, the vote is open until the 2nd of July 2009. The 10 players names held by the public will be announced by the WSOP organizer, Harrah’s Entertainment during the great final of this November tournament.

Poker tournaments for students: Crowd record in two tournaments
If some decrease of poker tournaments for students’ frequenting was observed during previous editions, organizers adopted new formulas this year. The two tournaments especially dedicated to students, the “Partouche Poker Tour Etudiants” and the third edition of Campus Poker Masters registered all a crowd record. For the Partouche Poker Tour, the modification of the satellite of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux structure and the tournaments gratuitousness allowed attracting more than 4.200 students from 150 schools and universities. For this tournament which was played on last May 17th at “Forges les Eaux” casino, it was after a rude competition which came to end at 2:00 a.m. that Arthur Weil, student at Engineer School HEI of Lille won the title of champion. For this victory, he won so the buy-in of €8,500 which will allow him to participate to the Partouche Poker Tour main Event which will be held on the 1st to the 6th of September, at Palm Beach in Cannes. The vice champion, Paul Halpert, from Pharma School of Nantes won a plasma screen.

WSOP: The tournament gives its support to Nevada Cancer Institute
With the numerous poker charity tournaments dedicated to support aid organization or Institute of research on incurable diseases, WSOP organizers decided too to associate the image of this tournament with tasks having the same objective. From this year on, starting from Las Vegas edition which will begin before long, WSOP organizers have resolved to collaborate with Nevada Cancer Institute. Indeed, gamers’ gains won’t be given to this charitable trust, but the original idea to let every participant to give or not, a tiny part of their prize to the institute is suggested.
