Patrick Le Lay: A branch of Eurosport channel to conquer online games

With La Française des Jeux which gets ready for the online poker market in the way to the liberalization, Patrick Bruel which enter into partnership with Meetic for buying back the same kind of gamble portal, webstite like Poker 770, Casino Riva which comes through the French market, TF1’s former chairman and managing director, Patrick Le Lay conjures up his interest for online games. « In France, there’s a place only for four or five big operators and we wish to be one of », he declared during an interview granted to French newspaper Le Figaro. The Eurosport TV station, a TF1 branch, launched on last April its site of poker and online gamble in England. Behind TF1 initiative, Bouygues group and François Pinault’s holding (PPR, Fnac, Gucci, Printemps…) are supporting it.

« At first, we wanted to buy back games' Internet site. But we noticed that everybody works more or less in law transgression », explained M. Le Lay to talk about his group's strategy. « So, we decided to start from nought by creating a company, SPS. It is associated with Eurosport channel », he continued. Never having given his real opinion on the current project of online games' text which preparation is in progress, he only wishes that « the members of the parliament would pass a fiscal frame in European standard in order that some French champions could emerge and take an European dimension ». For the French markets which represent currently 20 billions euros of turnovers, great operators already started to display their true projects.
