World Series of Poker Event Sees Youngest Winner Ever

At 21, Jeff Madsen reportedly became the youngest poker champ to win a World Series of Poker event. The film student from Los Angeles, along with 1,578 other players, took part in a 3-day No Limit Hold'em event with a $2,000 buy-in. At the final table, Madsen managed to beat his opponent's straight with a higher straight. Following his win, the young poker champ pocketed $660,948 as well as one of the coveted World Series of Poker bracelets.

Madsen has apparently been on a lucky strike since the beginning of the prestigious poker competition on June 25. Three weeks ago, he finished third in an Omaha high-low tournament, outlasting poker pros, such as Huck Seed and Daniel Negreanu. To finance his buy-ins, he reportedly convinced his parents and grandparents to lend him money from a fund they have been keeping for his college education. Madsen was reported as saying that although he intended to pursue his poker ambitions, he also planned to finish college.
