The Poetry of Poker: New York literati get tutelage from Annie Duke and Howard Lederer
Poker playing siblings Annie Duke and Howard Lederer were on hand to shell out pearls of poker wisdom to a representation of the New York literary scene during a benefit Texas Hold 'em tournament hosted by the literary magazine “Fence." The literati weren't playing around; they even hired professional dealers to help oversee the game. While it is true that poker has been moving up the ranks of society in the past number of years, its current foray is likely due more to the fact that Duke and Lederer's sister co-edits the magazine hosting the tournament. The two attended the benefit tournament as a show of support to sister Katy, a poet. Duke offered insight into the conceptualization of money during poker games, while Lederer gave pointers on betting during the flop, turn, and river.
