The World Poker Congress to Take Place on June 27-28, 2006 in Sweden
The World Poker Congress, scheduled to take place on June 27-28, 2006 at the City Conference Center in Stockholm, Sweden, is the first conference designed to combine both online and land-based aspects of the international poker industry. Participants of the conference will be offered the unique opportunity to address concerns related to both Internet and live poker operations, and examine the poker world's future possibilities.
Jeffrey Pollack, the first commissioner of the World Series of Poker, and Steve Lipscomb, president of the World Poker Tour, are invited to deliver keynote speeches at the future event. Organizers of the conference stated that the speakers would discuss innovative methods to attract new poker players.
Sue Schneider, president of one of the conference organizers, the River City Group, was quoted as saying, "The World Poker Congress will highlight the strategies, products and services that will help any online poker room stay at the top of their game." In addition, Paul Dworin, publisher of Global Gaming Business and PokerBIZ magazines, said, "The World Poker Congress will give operators and vendors a window into poker's future."
