A liquor company has come under fire from the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) for an endorsement event it hosted with World Series of Poker (WSOP) legend Chris Moneymaker. DISCUS, a national trade association representing the producers and marketers of distilled spirits sold in the U.S., this week released its third public report of advertising complaints. Chris Moneymaker earned mention for promotional work he did with Canadian Club Whiskey in which minors were allegedly among the campaign's audience.

The organization claims that the poker celebrity signed autographs for underage fans in a Pennsylvania liquor store. Not the smartest career move for the accountant-turned-poker-pro. In response to DISCUS' critique, Canadian Club Whiskey promised to send company representatives to similar promotions it might hold in the future in order to keep the kids out.

Chris Moneymaker won fame in 2003 for being the first online qualifier to ever win the WSOP. He won his entry to the WSOP main event via a $39 satellite tournament. Since his win, Moneymaker has ridden the wave of poker's popularity, benefiting from countless endorsement deals from companies like Canadian Club Whiskey.
