Calvin Ayre's Bodog Compound Gets Busted as Cops Search for Illicit Poker Activity
Bodog CEO Calvin Ayre is used to getting publicity for his trademark celebrity hobnobbing. Now, the Hugh Hefner of online gaming is making headlines for another reason. Amidst on-site taping for Bodog's upcoming televised poker program, filmed on location at Ayre's Costa Rican mansion, police descended on the premises in search of illegal gambling activities. Following the raid, taping for the reality poker series, which has been picked up by Fox Sports, moved to the Intercontinental Hotel. When the police raided Ayre's home, coined “The Bodog Compound" by people in the know, there was no poker action actually taking place at the time. Instead, cameras were rolling on a party scene to be added to the program to represent the poker lifestyle that the show hopes to project. While no arrests were reportedly made, police did make off with some files and laptop computers.
