Oh Poker, I Mean, Oh Canada: 2006 Canadian Open Poker Championship opens for business
With winter on its way out, the poker pros are following suit with the birds and are heading up north. Fresh off from the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship in Vegas' Caesars Palace, pros like Huck Seed and Antonio “The Magician" Esfandiari have headed to a somewhat less glamorous destination, Calgary, Canada. The 2006 Canadian Open Poker Championship kicks off tonight at the Stampede Casino. Seed just made headlines with his final four spot in the Heads-Up Poker Championship. The Canadian poker event will give him the chance to try his hand once more at heads-up play, the featured format of the Canadian championship event. In addition to Seed and Esfandiari, Brad Booth, one of Canada's up-and-coming poker players, will also try his hand at the championship. The 2006 Canadian Open Poker Championship starts tonight, March 8, and runs through March 12. More information about the championship is available at the Canadian Open's official website: www.canadianchampionshippoker.ca.
