21-Year-Old Online Qualifier to Fill Final Seat in NBC Poker Championship
Josh Lochner, a 21-year-old student at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, has his work cut out for him. He is the single layperson to be found among a field of poker royalty competing in the upcoming Heads-Up Poker Championship, to be aired for the second year in a row on NBC. Poker celebrities, including defending Heads-Up champ Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, and Chris “Jesus" Ferguson, will be among the 63 poker pros coming to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to participate in this year's championship, in which they will vy for the title of best heads-up player. Lochner beat out a field of approximately 30,000 online poker players at nbcheadsup.com, a site dedicated specifically to the competition, to claim the final seat at NBC's Heads-Up Poker Championship. Fans can tune in to NBC Sports on Sunday, April 16th to catch the first episode of the 2006 National Heads-Up Poker Championship and see if Lochner, the online poker phenom, can prove himself on the live felt as well.
