Online poker room PokerStars.com has recently had a landmark achievement. Less than three years after the online poker site first boasted 10,000 simultaneously-logged on poker players, PokerStars has now had a whopping 100,000 logged on at once at the site. To mark this occasion, which represents major growth for the site, PokerStars has decided to begin offering $1 million guaranteed poker tournaments on a weekly basis.

Until now, the online poker room has hosted such tournaments monthly. However, seeing that overall demand at the online poker site has increased, PokerStars saw it fit to increase the the frequency of such beefy tournaments, the monthly version of which often attracted more than 5,000 players each. Players can buy-in to the weekly million-dollar tournaments for $215. If this amount is too rich for their blood, the site also gives the option of qualifying through satellite tournaments.
