Online Poker Site Hosts Charity Tournament for Ailing Player

Online poker room FullTiltPoker.com is helping one of its players battle leukemia with a private charity tournament scheduled for today. Jill Sabsevitz, a player at the online poker site, was diagnosed with AML (acute myelogenous leukemia) two months back and is now in need of a bone marrow transplant, a procedure not paid for by her medical insurance. The well-meaning, albeit downright inappropriately-titled “Suckout on Leukemia" charity poker tournament is sponsored by the FullTiltPoker.com forum and ClintBaird.com, the website of budding poker pro Clint Baird.

The buy-in for the online poker tournament is $10, in addition to a $16 fee. Out of the $16 fee, one dollar goes to FullTiltPoker.com, while the rest is donated to Ms. Sabsevitz's cause. In addition to furthering a good cause, players will get to compete with big name pros including Erik Seidel, Andy Bloch, and Steve Brecher, among others. In order to register for the charity tournament, players need to enter the password “playforjill"

In addition to vying for the cash pool generated by the buy-in, players will also be eligible for additional prizes if they manage to knock out either Baird or Bloch. In addition, Baird has promised to donate an extra $26 to Sabsevitz if he busts out.
