PokerShare.com Lives Again: Online poker room prepares to make comeback
Online poker room PokerShare.com is getting ready to relaunch after resolving some messy issues with Excapsa, its former poker network. PokerShare.com has been defunct since November, 2005, when it was forced to close by Excapsa, which allegedly was under duress from UltimateBet.com, the network's flagship poker room. In PokerShare.com's two short months of operation, it reportedly attracted enough interest to make fellow network member UltimateBet.com uneasy regarding the potential competition. UltimateBet had reason to be apprehensive. PokerShare.com offered a groundbreaking concept in online poker; it effectively turned ordinary online poker players into shareholders by dividing a 40 percent stake in the company among them. Accordingly, PokerShare.com promised to send players quarterly dividends. Indeed, the site was an instant success among online poker players, garnering substantial popularity in its two months of operation. After being tossed off of Excapsa, Playit Ownit, Ltd., the company behind PokerShare.com, entered into a dispute with Excapsa Software Inc. and its subsidiary, Game Theory Ltd. The two companies have now made amends, as PokerShare.com is preparing for its early March relaunch. Lucan Toh, CEO of PokerShare.com, even went as far as publicly stating that his company "[considers Excapsa] to be a very well run company and we will certainly be investing ourselves." Regarding the impending relaunch, Max Wright, Director of Gaming for PokerShare.com, commented, "We are in tip-top shape for our return to the market... We fully expect to regain our status as the most promising site on the web." In addition to reopening its online poker room, PokerShare.com will also launch a similarly-themed online casino, named CasinoShare.com.
