Man Plays Final Hand of Poker Before Being Lured by Acquaintance to His Death
A man named Michael Brown was stabbed to death late Friday night after leaving a poker game in Syracuse, New York. At first it seemed that this was a cut-and-dry case of a mugging gone bad, but police investigations uncovered an even more sordid story in which Brown was allegedly led to his death by a “friend." Candace Williams, a woman initially thought to be an eyewitness to the stabbing, is now being charged with murder, along with two other men who are believed to have pistol-whipped and stabbed Brown in an attempt to rob him of his poker bankroll. Fellow players at that fateful poker game said that Brown had lost a large sum of money at poker, then received a phone call and left. Presumably, Brown went to meet Williams and the two were approaching William's home when Brown was attacked by two masked men. The pilfering pair attempted to take his poker winnings, which, according to fellow players, didn't amount to much. Williams and her accomplices, Andre McClain and Tyrell S. Dowdell, have all been charged with murder, even though McClain is the only one suspected of actually committing the lethal stabbing.
