Although the World Poker Tour's (WPT) fledgling efforts at penetrating the online poker industry are just that, statistics predict that the WPT's online poker room could ultimately become the company's main money maker. Currently, WPTOnline, the WPT's online poker room, earns the company just a small fraction of its total revenue. Nevertheless, growth rates forecasted for the online poker industry in general could add up to major growth for WPTOnline as well.

A recent study demonstrated that revenue earned by the online poker industry internationally could reach $6.7 billion by 2010. Taking this estimate into consideration, and assuming that WPTOnline follows suit, the company could multiply its current online poker earnings by seven by that year. This would put the WPT's online poker earnings far above those of the company's television and product licensing pursuits, which currently comprise the lion's share of the WPT business.
