If I had a penny, just a penny, for every time I came across another poker article with the words “know when to hold 'em" or “know when to fold 'em" in its title, well, let's just say I wouldn't be here writing this article right now. Indeed, those Kenny Rogers' lyrics, the most memorable line from his legendary “The Gambler," have become permanently entrenched in poker lingo.

Kenny Rogers is now commemorating the 25th anniversary of the made-for-TV “Kenny Rogers as The Gambler," a film based on the song, embarking on a major publicity campaign that includes an online poker tournament. Promotional events will tempt poker enthusiasts and country music fans to buy the film's DVD box set, slated for release in early May. Upon purchasing the box set, fans will also receive a bonus package including a special edition deck of poker cards. And, as far as the effectiveness of the extensive campaign is concerned, “There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done," in the words of the song itself.
