Hawaiian Poker Open Proves that the State Boasts More Than Grass Skirts and Pineapples
Hawaii: it's not just the land of luaus and leis. The 'Aloha State' has a good measure of poker pride too. Hawaii's state poker league is gearing up for the Hawaiian Poker Open, taking place from February 26 to 28. Despite the name, the Hawaiian Poker Open will not actually be taking place in Hawaii, but rather, in Las Vegas. The Hawaiian poker tournament is coming to Binion's Gambling Hall, the legendary home of the World Series of Poker. Participants in the Hawaiian Poker Open will duke it out on the felt to determine who's the best poker player in the island state. Any Hawaiian 21 years of age or older can hand over the $1,000 buy-in plus $100 entry fee to play in the No Limit Texas Hold 'em tournament. These fees, however, only cover entry in the tournament, and not transportation, lodging, or any other expenses.
