Israel Launches National Poker League, Plans to Send Player to WSOP
Israel, the land of milk and poker? Indeed, the Holy Land is also cashing in on the worldwide poker craze. The country's official “Israel Poker Association" is getting ready to launch its first poker league, a series of tournament events that will ultimately send one Israeli representative to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. More than 300 Israeli poker aficionados are expected to shuffle up and deal in the Israel Poker Association's poker league. The tournament series will take place over three months, with 90 of the league's players continuing to the final No-Limit Texas Hold 'em event. The winner of the final event will then get a chance to see how they stack up against the top players from around the world at the 2006 WSOP.
