World Poker Tour Adds New Tour Stop and Axes Online Poker Partnerships
The World Poker Tour (WPT) just announced that it would be stopping at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino as part of the tour's fifth season. Mandalay Bay joins the Mirage and Bellagio, the other two casinos thus far booked to host WPT events during season five. All three Las Vegas casinos are owned by MGM Mirage. Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPT Enterprises, Inc., noted that the newly-announced Mandalay Bay tour stop “continues to build our solid relationship with the MGM Mirage family of destination resort casinos." He also called the Mirage, Bellagio, and Mandalay Bay “the best Las Vegas has to offer." In addition to the new WPT event location, the company also announced that the Party Poker Million would no longer be part of the World Poker Tour, and that its partnership with online poker sites Party Poker and Ultimate Bet would be coming to an end. Instead of the Party Poker Million, the WPT will be adding the Foxwoods' Poker Classic to its tournament roster.
