Charity Poker with A-Rod: Jay-Z, Michael Jordan, Vin Diesel, and Phil Hellmuth on the guest list

You can be sure that when Yankees star Alex Rodriguez rallies for a cause, the upper crust of American celebrity, athletic or otherwise, will be rallying for it as well. Proof of this is in the list of heavyweight names slated to attend A-Rod's forthcoming charity poker tournament, which will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami. Among the over 300 players expected to compete in the tournament are Michael Jordan, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Lenny Kravitz, Vin Diesel, Gary Sheffield and, of course, Alex Rodriguez. Poker pro Phil Hellmuth will also be on hand to show the stars and other guests how the game is really played.

The 2nd Annual Dewar's 12 Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournament will be held in a prime, beachfront property located on the private island of Indian Creek Village, Florida. The upscale gathering will be about more than just poker, however; the night will also include a fashion show and jewelry exhibition. And to give the night an added Vegas feel, the poker party will have its fair share of showgirls and dancers.

The celebrity poker night gives A-Rod a chance to play poker in line with the law and for a good cause. A few months back, Rodriguez was reported to have been sighted with the above mentioned Hellmuth at an underground New York poker club that was later busted by police. Rodriguez reportedly got a talking to from Major League Baseball about his poker habit. With Dewar's 12 Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournament, however, he can play his favorite game out in the open, and avoid any run-ins with the law.
