Poker Oddity of the Week: Poker cow gives the gift of giving

In the race to attract new blood to online poker sites, many companies have opted to up the bonus ante, offering bigger and bigger bonus rewards. One site, however, is giving a different type of bonus, one which I can pretty safely say is the first of it's kind. Poker Bonus Direct's latest bonus offer is a horse of a different color, or should I say cow?

The site is giving away cows as an incentive for players to register at various online poker rooms. Personally, I prefer cash, but who knows? Maybe there's a vast untapped player base of cow-lovers. To be fair, the promotion is charitable in nature; the site isn't just UPS-ing cows to the doorsteps of players across the world.

Every player that the site drives to any of the participating online poker rooms, which include Empire Poker, Party Poker, Titan Poker, Hollywood Poker, and PokerRoom, will have a cow donated on their behalf to an impoverished family living in the third world. Players who benefit from the bonus will receive a voucher from Oxfam stating that a cow has indeed been donated in their name.

Only time will tell if this promotion proves a “cash cow" for the affiliate poker site, or if it is simply milking a dry teat.
