Juha Helppi and Rob Varkonyi Play Deep Sea Poker at the Caribbean Poker Classic
Poker cruises have been quite “the thing" for some time now, but it seems that the people behind the Caribbean Poker Classic may have confused the public's interest in playing poker on the water with playing poker in the water. Unless there's another explanation for putting a former WSOP champ and another budding pro player at the bottom of the ocean for a friendly, not to mention wet, game of cards. The deep sea poker game was a side event at the Caribbean Poker Classic, which kicked off this past Sunday. Yesterday, Juha Helppi and Rob Varkonyi decided to cool off in the waters of the Caribbean, taking with them a poker table, some chips and cards as well. The two players went down in wet suits and oxygen tanks, sat around a specially weighted table, played with weighted chips, and held in their hands waterproof cards. In addition to making sure they kept their chip stack well-piled, Helppi and Varkonyi also had to keep watch that their table didn't float away, and to stay focused despite the comings and goings of passing fish and other underwater wildlife.
