Online Poker and Sportsbetting Unite at Paddy Power

Combining poker, the game of the moment, with the more seasonal favorite of sportsbetting, Irish gaming and betting company Paddy Power has launched 'poker betting' on its online betting site, PaddyPower.com. Through this new feature, Paddy Power gives poker fans the chance to bet on the future winners of major tournaments. Beginning with next week's Monte Carlo Millions, the first poker event available for punting, fans will be able to put their money where their mouth is, or rather, on their favorite poker pros. Monte Carlo Millions' $3 million prize pool will likely attract the best of professional poker to the tournament's 120 seats.

Paddy Power generates its poker odds by tapping tournament insiders for up-to-the-minute information on the game and its players. In addition to the players listed at the site, users can request odds on other players upon request. Odds range from 28-1, for pros including Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Chris “Jesus" Ferguson, Erik Seidel, Gus Hansen, and John Juanda, to 150-1 for lesser-knowns such as John Ioannou, Stuart Rutter, Tore Lagerborg, Andreas Barstad, Peter Eichhardt, Dan Pedersen, and Jatinder Singh. Amazing, isn't it, that we can gamble on gambling?
