Tribeca Tables Adds Badugi Poker to Online Game Variations

Tribeca Tables, an online poker network and software developer, announced that it has added a new poker game to its offerings. The new game, called badugi poker, represents an effort by the company to set itself apart from the plethora of competing online poker rooms on the Web. Although not a staple of mainstream poker, adding badugi poker puts Tribeca in a unique position in the industry, being that it's the first online poker network to offer the game.

Commenting on Tribeca's efforts to add unique games to its online poker platform, Tribeca Tables' Steve Cook noted, “Players are always looking for something new. Badugi Poker is a game that requires a great deal of skill."

Cook went on to say that he is sure that badugi poker “is going to create a great deal of interest on the net. We are always keen to offer a variety of new games to poker players, whether pros or just starting out. Because a lot of players will be new to Badugi, it is going to offer a level playing field. Everyone will have a chance!"

According to legend, badugi originated in Korea under the name “paduki." Badugi, however, ultimately made its way to the U.S., where the game flourished in communities boasting higher percentages of Korean-Americans. By adding the game to mainstream online poker sites, Tribeca is setting badugi next to popular favorites like Texas hold'em.
