WSOP Tournament of Champions Heads for Caesars Palace
Pro poker's cream of the crop will be getting a risk-free shot at $2 million in prize money at next week's World Series of Poker (WSOP) Tournament of Champions. The freeroll tournament, coined “poker's All-Star event" by Harrah's VP Jeffry Pollack, is scheduled to take place November 6th to 8th at the Harrah's-owned Caesars Palace. Of the $2 million total prize pool prescribed for the event, half of that will go to the top winner. As for all major WSOP events, the Tournament of Champions will be broadcast on ESPN. Fans can tune in to the network on December 24, 2005 at 1:00 pm, and catch the action. WSOP record holders Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan, as well as Phil Hellmuth, have committed to playing in the Tournament of Champions. Other WSOP millionaires, including those from this year's final table, are also expected to show for the tournament. According to Fred Christenson, director of programming for ESPN Original Entertainment, ESPN expects the event to draw widespread viewership. He also said that the Tournament of Champions “will be a great culmination" of the network's WSOP coverage this year.
