World Poker Exchange Sponsors College Shootout Tournament
Online poker site World Poker Exchange announced that it will once again be sponsoring a championship poker tournament for college kids. The 2006 Worldpx College Shootout tournament will look for budding poker talent at 219 American institutes of higher education, giving them the chance to win prizes adding up to $90,000 in value. Prizes to be awarded will include a mini Cooper, spring break vacations, scholarships, Dell computers, and iPod Nanos. The 2006 tournament comes on the heels of the successful “World Poker Exchange Intercollegiate Poker Championship," held earlier this year. Starting yesterday, collegiate poker fans at least 18 years of age can register at Collegeshootout.com. "The college sector is one of the fastest growing demographic segments of online poker, and there is some extraordinary talent to be found," noted Haden Ware, managing director of World Poker Exchange. "Our tournament underscores the college sensibilities surrounding the sport of poker and the social aspects of the game."
