WSOP Satellite Tournaments Planned for Latin America
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is reportedly heading south this winter, with satellite tournaments in the works for various locations in Latin America, starting in February 2006. Harrah's Entertainment's licensing wing, Harrah’s Licensing Company, LLC, has inked a deal with Latin American gaming corporation CIRSA, allowing the latter to coordinate WSOP satellite tournaments at its casinos. The satellite tournament series has been coined the “Majestic Poker Tour," and will award winners with seats at the coming year's WSOP main event. Casinos slated to participate include the Casino Majestic in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the Majestic Lima in Lima, Peru, the Gran Casino Isla Margarita in Venezuela, and the Majestic Panama in Panama. Scheduled to start in February, the Majestic Poker Tour will run through June.
