Alex Rodriguez and Phil Hellmuth Hold('em) Court at Underground Poker Club
Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has reportedly been high-rolling it with professional poker player Phil Hellmuth in an underground Manhattan poker room. The pair were recently spotted at the poker club, stirring up a good measure of excitement among other patrons. The pair responded to the attention gracefully, even signing autographs for a number of the club's players.
With thousands of dollars in chips between the two of them, Rodriguez and Hellmuth ultimately made their way to the high-roller room for some no-limit hold'em.
Underground poker clubs have been popping up all over New York, ever since poker began making its debut into popular culture. This growth has been at the dismay of local authorities, who in May raided two such clubs, prosecuting 39 suspects with illegal gambling.
